God has once again provided for our needs in His perfect way andtiming. For a while, it has been our prayer request that God wouldsend someone with a heart to serve at Embrace long term.
Toma’s testimony: “God gave me the desire to come and serve at Embrace a while back. So whenthe opportunity came in March, I couldn’t say no! After serving for just aweek, I knew I had to come back. All glory and praise be to God for allowingand opening the doors for me to come back and serve at Embrace as a longterm missionary!”
Brian’s Testimony
After years of street life, drug addiction, theft, abuse and rejection, 16 year old Brian Mwangi didn’t think he had much of a future ahead of him. But God had another plan, Brian was rescued on Embrace’s opening day (January 19,2021.) A few days later, the power of addiction pulled him back to the streets. He returned to Embrace and this pattern repeated around 5 times until Brian finally made a serious commitment to change. He stayed and fought hard to resist the temptations that came. Eventually, he gave his life to Christ and on June 11th, he was baptized! In his free time, he can be found memorizing Scripture, encouraging other boys and studying to catch up on missed academic years. Through Embrace, who never gave up on him , he encountered the unconditional love of God and today, he is part of His family. Unfortunately shortly after his baptism, Brian’s mother passed away. He testified that the Lord strengthened him during the difficult season. Brian and his family experienced the overwhelming support of his Embrace and Church families.

Every week, we follow up with our boys who have been previously reintegrated. Our social workers travel long distances despite the many challenges on the road, reaching as far as Uganda and Tanzania. Sometimes they find great hardship in the families, other times stories of hope and great encouragement.
Due to difficult family circumstances,
John Muiruri has been caring for himself and his younger sister, including looking for food and cooking. Yet according to teachers, he is one of the top students in his class.
Geoffrey Makana acknowledges his past mistakes and uses his story as an opportunity to encourage his classmates and warn them of the dangers of street life.
Emmanuel Ramsey shared that he is utilizing Bible reading materials provided by Embrace together with his family to grow in the Word ofGod. (It is not common in Kenya to find families spending quality time together).
Daniel Kioko fasted for 3 days for God to open the door for him to go to school. The following day,(unknowingly), the social worker came for a visit with the goal of admitting Daniel to school!
Praise God for His unconditional love and faithfulness in the lives of our boys!
Training Opportunities
Our team has had several learning opportunities. The caregivers attended a First Aid & CPR course to refresh their medical knowledge in order to continue providing our boys medical care.
We also participated in two government trainings for all organizations working with vulnerable children in our region. We were reminded that the work of Embrace is thoroughly aligned with the Kenyan Care Reform Strategy. This reform is part of an international movement, in which the goal is to transition from institutional care to family and community based care.
Our missionaries were also blessed with the opportunity to attend a two day missionary retreat along with other Ukrainian missionaries who serve in Uganda. Our time was filled with meaningful fellowship, lots of prayer and rest. Needless to say, everyone left very grateful and encouraged.
Community Engagement
Embrace has been receiving various groups and visitors who come with a desire to serve the boys in different ways. They bring activities, games, donations and encourage the boys. One woman even baked a few cakes for everyone to enjoy! It is very encouraging to witness local churches, youth groups and individuals reaching out and sharing the love of God with our boys.
Embrace. We We continue to express our gratitude to every person who supports value every partnership, prayer and financial support. May the Lord bless and protect you!
We would love to hear from you! Please feel free to share any feedback, including any questions or comments you may have.
