Faithfully Serving and Furthering God’s Kingdom

There are people who faithfully serve for months, or even years, without seeing the fruit of their labor,
as we all have different roles in the furthering of God’s kingdom. Some plant the seeds, some water, but God gives the growth. And so, how incredibly encouraging it is when God graciously gifts us the opportunity to be a part of the journey of transformation in someone’s life, and also to see the fruit. This past month, we were blessed to be able to celebrate with Immanuel, who was our first boy to be baptized in Embrace, Nairobi. Imma has been at Embrace since January of 2021, as we have grappled to find placement for him. His immediate family consisted of his mother and sister. His mother passed away in March, which just left the sister, who refused to have anything to do with Immanuel.

Immanuel came to know Christ as His personal Saviour a few months ago, and upon hearing Acts 2:38 (Which says, “Repent, and be baptized”) during discipleship class, asked if that meant he should also be baptized since he had already repented. It is incredible to see how the Holy Spirit uses the Word of God to convict and teach us. As we watched Immanuel grow in his love for reading the Bible, prayer, and growing in his faith, our team was thrilled to witness him get baptized at the beginning of August.

In other exciting news, Immanuel has now been placed to stay with an uncle in Western Kenya, and continue his education in a boarding school there. Throughout the month of August, by God’s grace, we were also able to reintegrate 4 other boys back into their families and community: Morris, Denis, Samuel, and Favour.

Morris had run away from home and school mostly due to peer influence and his mother’s neglect for his better good. Denis was referred to us by his parents, as he was in need of rehabilitation from the hard drugs he was using. Samuel dropped out of school years ago, and struggled with a lot of anger and addiction. Favour was on the street for less than a week due to poverty at home and influence from friends to escape school. Each boy that comes through Embrace has a unique case and a unique story that we thoroughly research and pray through, to be able to make the best possible decision for reintegration and each child’s life.

Last month we followed up with Brian Wachira, who is doing well at home and in school. The family was overjoyed for the care package full of clothing items, and household necessities among other goodies, as well as a sack of corn and beans to last them awhile. We ask that you join us in praying for stability in work for Brian’s mom, as well as the health of Victor Maina who was reintegrated home earlier this year. He has developed a serious heart condition, and is currently undergoing treatment. All our boys express gratitude to receive follow- up visits, food & care packages, and God’s love and provision that they see through us, even months after they’ve gone home.
